PRINCE2 NEW EXAMINATION – FACT FILE

What was the old format of the exam?
An open-book, three-hour essay examination, with a scenario background and 3 questions, each of the questions is worth 50 marks. The overall score of 75 out of a possible 150 is required to pass. The exam lasts three hours.

What is the new format of the exam?
An open-book, three-hour examination based on a series of mini case studies with plenty of information to be analysed and prioritised. The pass mark is 180 out of 360.

Why did the examination change?
PRINCE2 has become a standard qualification globally, and a three-hour essay is not the best way to assess people internationally.
The new exam focuses more on how delegates supply their knowledge of PRINCE2 rather than on what they can remember of PRINCE2; candidates will therefore be required to reason the correct answer(s) from a series of given options.

When did the exam format change?
Courses starting from the 3rd of September 2007 will already be delivered with the new examination in mind, and exams taken at the end of the course will be under the new format.

Will delegates be able to take the exam in the old format if they want to?
No, all future courses delivered by Logical Training Solutions will end with the new style examination.
